I read a while ago just as the game was released that there was going to be an expansion pack. Is there any advancement on this? Does anyone know anything about this?

No plans have been announced so far. I doubt one will happen.

* Traahn sniffles... then outright CRIES!!!! *wahhhhhhhh!*
We can still hope, though! If nothing else, we can all buy X-Boxes when Tron Killer App is released. And also buy Game Boy Advance units to play the Tron game on there, too. Woot!!
I'm getting out of here right now, and you guys are invited. -----^ |

Convince more people to actually buy the game and I would bet you will see an expansion from BVG.

I think a "gold edition" of Tron 2.0 with the main game bundled with an expansion pack would sell if priced properly as would a separate SKU expansion pack for existing owners.
The main advantage to an expansion pack is that the production cost could be minimal compared to the initial game given that the engine is mature and being licensed for significantly less now. The core code is in place, and many of the media assets could be reused. The voice acting might be a major expense, but I think that most of the game's fans would rather have an expansion with cheaper stand-in voice talent than no expansion at all.

Slightly OT here, and maybe this is old news, but did you guys see the extra multiplayer features that will be in the Xbox version? Very cool.
Too bad it wouldn't do me any good, even if I had an Xbox. That whole "dial-up only area" thing... Don't you wish your corruption was hot like me? |

Heck, they (BVI) could always do what Volition and Interplay did with Freespace. Create a contest to create the best mission and then release all the best entries on a discounted disk as an expansion. Viola instant expansion pack! Okay, I'll be quiet now.

I have to disagree there. I think the voice acting is key in making the player feel more like they are in the TRON universe, or any licensed sci-fi universe. Cheaper stand-in voice talent would be a reason for people not to like the expansion pack. Conversely, using the more expensive actual actors can be a compelling reason for people to want the game. For example, the inclusion of the Jeri Ryan Speech Pack in the Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force Expansion Pack, which not only lent her voice to the expansion pack but to the original game's dialogue, was probably one of the top reasons why people bought the expansion pack.

But Silent Threat was much more than a collection of user-made missions. It has additional ships, weapons and a fairly large new single player campaign.
For my part, I just bought a copy of TRON 2.0 for my friend for his birthday and he loves it. The fact that TRON 2.0 is now $20.00 didn't hurt either.
