Getting sound to work with Tron 2.0 + SB Live! LS

on Wednesday, August, 04, 2004 10:49 PM
This game is really starting to rub me the wrong way. I spent $30 upgrading to the Sound Blaster Live! LS, and it still doesn't work right. I get music in the menu, but no sound while playing the game.

I've read redrain85's great FAQ, but I've tried all the methods he lists and none work. For those of you that don't know... the SB Live! LS is fully DirectX 9 compatible. So BVI's constant shouts of "get a DX9 card" are totally invalid now.

It took me nearly 2 hours wrestling with the codecs to even get the game to load. And after that much effort, I expect something more than people running around like mute and deaf idiots.

Anyone have any idea what I can do? Does the 1.042 patch solve this problem? If so, where can I find the thing?order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

Its always a good idea to update, the patches can be found at almost any filehouse. Fileshack, fileplanet, here is the link to dl it from filefront http://topic.news.filefront.com/1200;/Tron_20_1042_Patch/

I know you said you read the faq, but I'll go ahead and relist a few of the tips on the off chance you missed something. Since you are getting sound at the menu I'd almost be willing to gamble your mp3 codec is okay...but its worth addressing as well, its a pain to fix as you've already encountered. Try these first.

-Disable EAX (inside of tron 2.0)
-Lower Directx Sound HW acceleration, (start, run, dxdiag) you might consider turning it all the way down

To fix the codecs...

-Get to C:\Windows\System32 (xp) or C:\Windows\System (98 )
-Make sure you can see hidden files
-Find and delete l3codeca.acm and imaadp32.acm (if they arent their just skip to the reinstall)
-explore your tron 2.0 cd to find WMFADIST.EXE and run it

if on XP then do this next...
-get the the command prompt (start, run, cmd)
- "c:\windows\i386" (enter)
- "expand imaadp32.ac_ c:\windows\system32\imaadp32.acm " (enter)

if in 98 do this instead....
-put your 98 disc in the machine
-command prompt , "sfc"
-"Extract one file from installation disk "
-" imaadp32.acm" start
- in "Restore From" field put in whatver drive the 98 disc is in
-in "Save File In" field put in "C:\Windows\System"

....on either os, go in C:\Windows\System and verify the files are their.

Best of luck and let us know if the above dosent resolve it.

Thanks, Kmon.
I thought XP's file protection system restored those when they were deleted. Replacing the file worked nicely, although I couldn't expand the compressed file of the CD since mine is somehow corrupt. That may be why I had issues in the first place.
