Light up frisbees

on Tuesday, March, 23, 2004 4:15 PM
I found this site that sells these cool light up frisbees. I know the members here will want to look at this. All you'd have to do is add some paint and you'd have your own working light up Disc. The colors to choose from are Red, Blue, and Green. I've seen other kinds on the net, but none as nice as these. The image below came from their gallery section.

I had a "light up" frisbee in the early 80's. It used a 9V battery and had three colored lights on the ends of it. It broke VERY quickly and always had to be bandaged back up. I LOVED playing with it and can remember just WAITING for it to get dark out so I could play with it with my friends in the summer nights. It was the closest I was going to get to playing with a real TRON disc for the time. It didn't last long, but it was fun.

This site seems to have MUCH cooler light up frisbees. I wonder if they hold up better. Very cool looking!

That looks really neat there. I don't remember who mentioned about making a tron outfit a while ago. ThreRealTodd was it you that I had mentioned the idea of using fiber Optics for it?? (Scratching my head in trying to remember who I mentioned that idea too.)

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

V. cool, especially as they've managed to keep the weight down by using a single LED and coin cell battery (and it's apparently waterproof).

If you're in the UK, they're available here (though the price sucks, especially with the favourable exchange rate).

Note that the red ones only use one battery, and last much longer (claimed 120hours, vs. 2 batteries and 15-30 hours for the blue/green).

These disks are soooo awsome I suprised that this forum is not all over these!!!

I would like to know people's interest if I were to do a run of Identity Disks with the concentric circle design (like when we first see Ram doing tricks with his disk) who would like one?

If enough people express interest, we could get some disks made at a good price point.

Identity disc interest

Ever since 1982 I've wondered why Disney decided not to market an actual TRON frisbee. This seemed like a no brainer!!!

I own a lighted disc called the LUMINATOR which is a lot of fun to play with at night, but isn't quite a regulation disc.

I think these Flash Flight discs with the option to do a run with our own graphic is what I've been dreaming of since I was 12.

It turns out the smallest run we could do would be 36 discs. I know I would want at least 3 (hopefully red, blue, and maybe green) so if just 12 people ordered 3 we could do a run!

are we talking at the price of 20 bucks a piece?

I dont know about getting 3 but I would definetly be intersted in a Green one. and possibly a blue, if I could get the extra bucks for it. hehe

It looks like the price might be in the neighborhood of $23/disc (minus shipping)

The custom art will add to the cost of the $20 disc.
