I was thinking last night. I have some Model rockets here that are in different stages of production here. One is still in its original packaging and the other is readdy to be painted and have the stickers put onto it. I was thinking for a moment that I could dedicate one of the two model rockets here or both to the movie Tron and Tron 2.0 game. The painting and all that aliong with stickering that I can make with my computer. I could make these two rockets as a dedication two to tron. What do you guys and babetrons think?
P.S. Yes these two that I will be making will be able to launch as well. They don't need any permits to launch them.

Why not. Make something different and unique that is not always there. Its like in the scene of Tron. When flynn Tron and Ram get fired upon from the tanks. Why was the ammo being shot from the tank looking like the greater or less sign from the keyboard. I thought personally it would be different to have something that no one else had. And thought that it would look neat to have as part of a small collection.
I don't want to sound like I'm putting anyone down here. It was an idea that I thought that would look nice. And since I do have some model rockets that are missing either the building instructions and the stickers for it. I thought that making some stickers that would look good on a rocket and I know already the engine sizes for them would look interesting.
Also when you look at the film and some of the trailers. that came out for the game for Tron 2.0 that you never really saw. I mean look at the new carrier that is in the trailer. THe old tanks and recognizer are in there.
There were also from the original movie many different spin offs of other things like coffee cups, watches and the what nots. But has there been a model rocket that went along with it. I haven't seen it. I know that I'm not going to be using the same fonts. but to have something that would be a dedication to both the movie, and the game. I thought that it would be something that is nice for such a classical film.

Not putting it down at all Karl, just didn't get it is all. Frankly, if it's cool and TRON, I guess model rockets can apply too, sort of. DaveTRON

I'm defintly for the idea. Perhaps you could measure the diameter of the rockets and let some of the creative types submit some designs. People have come up with some great stuff on these forums.
---As for rockets fitting with tron 2.0, think about the whole geek context. Model rockets are definitly geeky, I love to build and design largly beacuse of that, so its a 'geek statment' to build a tron 2.0 rocket. Many in the hobby could identify with tron 2.0 im sure, besides watching a little tube climb several thousand feet in just a few seconds is just cool anyway you look at it; a tron sticker on the side would add even more to it Just remeber when asked if the stickers make it go faster/higher/etc make sure to say YES!!!

Well what I will do when I get a chance too I have the stats here on the prowler rocket that I have half ready over here. It's from Estes Rockets and I had put down in a small binder over here the dimensions of the rockets that I have built and are in the midst of being finished. And the others are on their way of being started. I'll pull it up and let the artitst know if they get any ideas. And I'll also try and post a picture of it as well so you know what the rocket looks like as well. I have the prowler ready for painting and all that. I'll have to get a digital camera with my first pay check and show you it as it is right now. and maybe you'll get an idea of what to put on it.
I have another that is still in its packaging and all that. Just need to assemble it and do the same thing with that one. Post the image and get painting onto it as well.
Also if you want to know more about rockets. I have some links here that you can go directly to the manufacturer web site and take a look there or sift through their online catalog that I have gotten their links to. Which also explains in detail the different levels that each one brings ranging from ready to fly model kist to the highest levels they have.
I have also noted from a local wholesaler that sells to the general public as well to the hobby stores that they have even larger model rockets that require special licenses to fly going from g motors to I believe m or n Motors. Which are not being sold from Estes Rockets or from Apogee rockets. But they stand a lot taller than the regular rockets. And I'm talking big ones that are like 9-10 feet in height. And costing about $275 in Canadian Dollars to give you an idea. Here are the links in case your interested in seeing what I am talking about.

The larger ones that use G size and larger can go as high as 10000 feet I believe if not higher. I remember seeing on the Discovery channel or on the TLC channel about it and those larger ones look awsome. I just don't remember which channel it was being shown at. Especially when they have 2 or more motors in them firing at the same time or using different stages to lauch it higher up.
I hope this will get everyone interested in it as well with the other projects that are happening within Tron-sector as well. Would be interesting to see a lot of different things happening here. Including a special model rocket for tron. (Sounding like an announcer) Flown and tape in a field near you.

If you made it look like a lightcycle, and used an engine with a same colored smoke entrail, it would look light a jet wall following the lightcyle.

I'll try and do my best in recreating a lightcycle on the rocket itself. But I can't get the color on the smoke on the engines itself since I do not have the rights to do so. And they are standard engines that are being used on these rockets. So I do not have the equipment open up the engines to do that. And I don't have the powders to do that as well.

Hey great idea comp, seeing tron in the air will be cool. I've made some estes rockets, they're soooo great, then me and my chum thought it would be fun if we paced one with cereal, that was fun. Now our rocket projects involve smoke bombs, we blew up a jar with a smoke bomb, ahhhh teenage tomfoolery. Cool idea.

Yeah they are good. I remember when I wa a kid all those years ago. Doing it with my father when I was younger. I should have stuck with it from then on. But you know how when your a kid you loose interest in things. If I would have stuck with it until now. I would have an armada of Rockets. So far in my collection of rockets I have 6 already to go. and two on their way. One is half finished while the other is still in its original packaging. So I'll start getting some dimension out for the artists of tron here to let them think of what kind of art can go on these two rockets.
Oh yeah. When I do get my digital camera sometime soon I hope. What I'll do is take a quick snap shot of some of them to show what I have here. And what the other one that I have waiting to be painted and stickered onto will look like.

Just a little update here. Here is the link to the two rockets that I am going to use for the tron dedications. THe two that I have are not like this at all. One needs the painting on it. the other is still in its packaging here. So don't fret that I have them set up like you will see in the picutre here in the link.
