Wow - you're really working on some slick artistry there!
But, I have to say that the closer you are to the original look and motion of the light cycles, the more I personally like it.
My favorite so far is the solid-looking cycle animation.
I notice that you tend to add "imperfections" to the grid, kind of like a the way a polished glass surface might look at an angle. The effect is cool, but I'd kind of like to see a more classic, "perfect" looking game grid. I also agree with Sketch on the light and spokes thing - didn't look right. It was technically impressive, but just didn't look quite right.
In the film, everything in the "digital world" was perfect looking (for lack of a better way of saying it). I know this was in part because the computers of the time could not render much else, but I also thought that was the whole idea - that everything was perfect and precise in the digital world. That's kind of what the world of TRON was all about to me - not just the limitations of the computers of the time, but the look and feel of things in a computerized, technically perfect and precise digital world.
That's my take on it, anyway.
In the world of TRON, I prefer the original look and feel of it all.
However, in the world of artistry and creative exercises - you're definitely working some impressive TRON-based animations
