Hey all,
Just a word on the Tron showings in Chicago at the Music Box. The movie was showing this weekend for the midnight show, and it will be showing next weekend, too.
However, the attempts have been plagued with problems so far. Last night's show was cancelled due to the print not arriving, and tonight's show had its share of technical issues. First, the print looks BADLY washed out, with the Encom helicopter looking pinkish instead of the normal red. Second, the reel changes seemed to bring major focus problems that took a few minutes to iron out. Third, there was a projector shutdown when Alan & Lora visit Flynn's Arcade.
To top it all off, it appears that this weekends shows were the only ones slated to be in the big theater. So, next weekend would be doomed to the tiny theater, making it barely worth going to.

Hi madopal - welcome to The Sector!
Hmm - they couldn't get better (newer) reels of TRON to show? Are they still using the 20+ year old original reels? I would think they have long since worn out.
If they're going to shot TRON, they should at least take measures to show it as is was intended to be seen - with the RED Encom helicopter and on celluloid that hasn't chemically broken down so much.
Then again, I'm not sure how difficult it is to come by a decent print of the film.

Thanks for the welcome! Glad to be here.
Yeah, I would have thought that in showing it, they would have had one of the newer prints that were circulating around the 20th anniversary. I dunno what the deal was.
I was pretty bummed, but it *was* nice to see it on the big screen for the first time since it was released!
