I just finished reading the novel, The Black Hole. The ending makes no sense what so ever. If anybody has read the book or can remember the ending, please explain it to me.

Haven't read it, but I have the Story on LP and it explains the ending as a kind of alternate universe but leaves it open.

Holy smokes. I forgot that my dad owns that book.
Never read it though. (My dad has quite few old sci fi books like "I, Robot" and the first two of Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy triology (hardback!))

Odd, but that is closer to what would happen to the crew in reality than portrayed in the movie. Supposedly a friend of mine in the "biz" chatted with the director recently and asked him about the movie's ending but of course the movie ended differently than the novel. Timely discussion as I just found the DVD used 3 weeks ago at EB and had to buy it. I love the soundtrack, and unfortunately Disney is cheaping out on producing one.
