My brother's Arcade (at the mall here in Marion Illinois) was busted into by these Goth High School punks (info from the A&W-clerk). Stole about $300.00 in quarters.
He told me that they must have pryed it open with a small flat nail-puller. We didn't install lock bars on the machines because they tend to ruin the front of the cabs.
It's a good thing that only five games were busted into but still..
These games were:
Maxiumn Force
Ms. Pac-Man
Off-Road Thunder
Adam's Family (pinball)
Sea Witch (old Stern Pinball)
I never did crap like that when I was in High School. It was done durning midday on Thursday. Where is the rent-a-cops when you need them.
For those of you who have your machines in a location, make sure you either have someone watching your machines or have lock-bars installed.

Yeah Man that sucks big time. I hope they get Caught soon. I'm sorry to hear that those machines got broken into Qix.
I know when I was a teenager. We never thoughtof things like that at all. It was unthinkable at the time. I guess its also good upbringing too I suppose. I guess the younger generation doesn't understand this way of thinking. Who knows.

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

Thanks guys. We replaced the coin doors and although I'm very upset about this, I am thankful that the machines are ok.
Loseing money is one thing, but destorying a work of art is another. The machine I care about most (that was broken into) was our Ms. Pac-Man. Not only is she a work of art, but a historcal relic. I'm glad she's ok.
My brother is still in shock because this is the first time this has ever happened. The local police wont catch them nor invesagate the matter because they have a history of not doing their job around here. Not a well liked crew.
I just pray this doesn't happen again.
Too bad I can't program a bunch of ICPs to watch our machines.. lolabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

So sorry to hear about this!
I'm glad the damage was minimal and easily fixed.
Ms. Pac-Man...
In the early 80's, there was a table-top Ms. Pac-Man at the local Pizza Hutt. Me and a friend would ride our bikes there. I dropped many an allowance in to that thing! I was never really good at it back then (usually didn't get past the first maze-3 board), but it was always an exciting experience.
I hope nothing like this happens again at your brother's arcade. Perhaps there are some extra security matters he can invest in? Either way - good luck.
If I lived in Marion Illinois, I'm sure I'd be dropping coins in his machines myself! I've got the MAME emulator and a handful of 80's classic games, but there's just nothing like the real thing!

Same here, Todd..
I have a extreme collection of MAME roms that I play from time to time. However, the real thing is the upmost best. I refer to it as the DEFENDER story. There are so many buttons and not enough Joy-Stick control for a PC to mimic and make it as good as the real thing. Plus the cabs in it self is a real work of art. There is nothing better than the real thing.
BTW: Thanks for kindness. If your ever in the area and stop by the arcade, look for a red-headed Irishman with a large set of keys. That would be me or my big brother collecting coins.. |
