I wanted to incorporate Tron's circuitry design into the surface of the work. My one trouble with that is that any paint applied to the leather tends to be somewhat easily tarnished, no matter the amount of sealant used. Also, leather tends only towards a flesh-tone, so paint would be the only option for any white/silver areas.
However, it was the exterior book case I had in mind - a small carrying case for the book itself while our fellow Programs go about their day. A book alone would be too exposed to handling, and possible objects in bags and pockets.
I had in mind kind of an 'Outlands surface,' leading to Tron's Disc, split in two, with it's inner circuitry visible on one side, occluded by the Disc's exterior - bringing to mind Tron's first offer of his Disc to Beck. I'd need a pattern which could easily cover the carrying-case's exterior, as opposed to simple, blank black leather.
