I think Contra for NES was the first game to include that code. waaayy old school.

Did Contra come out before Nemesis/Gradius? That's the one I remember having that code (or am I being senile again?)

That was the KONAMI CODE...every game Konami ever made for the NES will do SOMETHING when you enter that code.
